Description
Step into the candlelit world of Venice, 1709, where music floated from behind gilded screens and extraordinary young women played for the most celebrated audiences in Europe — yet were never seen. Penn State Opera's Non più nascoste ("Hidden No More") is a fully staged Baroque pastiche opera that pulls back the curtain on this stunning, secret world, following Gianna, a young musician studying under the legendary Antonio Vivaldi, as she fights to find her voice — artistically and personally. Born from a yearlong scholarly adventure that took Penn State graduate students to Venice itself to study in the very halls where this music once lived, the production weaves together ravishing Baroque music, original storytelling, and the talents of over 50 students from music, theatre, and art history into one unforgettable evening. With costuming, a lobby art exhibition, and a pre-show immersion beginning at 7:00 p.m., this isn't just a performance — it's a portal. April 13 & 14 at 7:30 p.m. in the Recital Hall. Don't let these voices stay hidden any longer.
